Sexual violence is a crime and is any act, verbal and/or physical, which breaks a person's trust and is sexual in nature. Sexual violence is about gaining power and control over someone, not about sexual desire or attraction. Victims of sexual violence are forced, tricked or pressured into sexual contact that is unwanted. Victims never cause their assaults and are not to blame.
At Turningpoint we offer Sexual Assault Services dedicated to offering victims and their families the support they need. These services are free and confidential and include; individual one-on-one support, support groups, information and referrals, 24-hour crisis support, personal advocacy, community education, restraining order assistance, legal advocacy, courtroom advocacy, medical advocacy, and temporary shelter and food.
Victims do not need to reveal personal information in order to receive services.
